Creating art is an intense process. No matter what your medium of your intent may be, you always come to a certain point when doubt tires to get the best of you. When fear temporarily obscures the core of your work. This fear is a beast with many heads, and it is all to easy to give in to its temptations.
Its most common form seems to be the fear of being judged. While creating something, you are in a safe area. It is just between you and your creation. But once you give that creation to the world, a lot of pressure arises. You begin to question the very creation that is so close to your heart, due to every minor thing someone has said, might say or
will never say somewhere on the internet.
And at this point you have to make a decision: do you want to give the opinions of others power over you? Do you want to spend your time feeling butthurt because someone has hurt your ego?
Or are you up to the challenge to rise above your insecurities and create art that truly comes from the heart? Are you going to be loyal to your ideals when facing Nigredo?
It most certainly takes commitment and self-discipline, even more so when facing adversity. It is my conviction that when you know deep down inside why you are doing what you are doing, no enemy can stop you. The biggest enemy one has to face lies within.
Make him your friend, and your vision shall prosper.
